At our church, we have a singular focus: proclaiming Jesus Christ by teaching everyone with all wisdom. This is why our classes and workshops exist.

Christ we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.

Classes and Workshops exist as key avenues to teach and impart wisdom, resulting in application for our daily lives, leading to increased maturity in Jesus Christ. It is our prayer “that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.” (Colossians 1:9-10).

Classes are seasonal, interactive courses designed to equip us to follow Jesus Christ. Each class typically spans 7-10 weeks and generally covers one of the following topics: Systematic Theology, Biblical Theology or Practical Theology.

When and where do groups meet?
Groups meet weekly in homes spanning from Erin Mills to York to Mimico. Small groups meet on weeknights (approximately from 7pm to 9pm) from Monday to Friday.
What curriculum is used?

For most of the year, a pulpit curriculum is used. A pulpit curriculum consists of discussions questions tailored around the recent sermon preached at Harvest Toronto West. All small groups, regardless of type, uses the same pulpit curriculum.

At various seasons of the year, different curriculum will be used to focus in on either mission (e.g. evangelism and compassion) or special topics (e.g. men's/women's studies, parenting and marriage).

What happens in an average small group night?

This is a typical timeline of a small group:

7:00 to 7:15pm - Arrive and Connect

This is a time to have fellowship over light refreshments.

7:15 to 7:45 pm - Worship and Pray

This is a time to prepare our hearts for the study and meditation of God's word coming up next.

7:45 to 8:30 pm - Discuss God's Word

This time is has 3 key features

Discussion-driven. Rather than being a time where a single person teaches, it is a time where we can teach and exhort one another (Col 3:16).

Word-centred. Rather than drawing from extra-biblical sources, this is a time when we dig deep in God's very words  (2 Tim 3:16).

Application-focused. Rather than bering a mere exchange of intellectual ideas, this is a time to make specific steps to apply God's word to our daily lives (James 1:22-25)

8:30 to 9:15pm - Break Out for Accountability

During this time, the group breaks out and the men and women gather separately. During this time, sin struggles are identified and accountability measures are established for the sake of victory over sin.

Note: For mens and womens groups, this time is combined with the discussion time
